About me and my qualification

Always a hand’s breadth of water under the keel!
That’s what they say on the coast, wishing a ship and its crew a good and safe journey.
I have had this proverbial hand’s breadth of water under my keel since my earliest youth. On rowboats and small sailing dinghies I started early to move on the water and to get to know the fascination. After a technical apprenticeship in another profession, I quickly returned to my roots.
I studied nautical science and maritime economics at the Rostock-Warnemünde maritime college and, after successfully graduating, joined a tanker as a 3rd nautical officer.
My way led me over different ship types and ranks up to the captain on the largest rail ferry under German flag.
For a large shipping company, I headed the nautical-technical inspection department for several years. At a shipyard in northern Germany, I worked on the construction of a new expedition cruise ship and successfully carried out the sea trials as a shipyard captain.
But I have also always remained connected to recreational shipping. Numerous beautiful sailing trips, which have taken me to Spain, Africa and across the South Atlantic to Brazil, among other places, are unforgettable.
Regardless of whether professional or recreational sailing, the seaworthiness of a ship, the safe equipment and the reliable functioning of the technology on board always represent the highest priority for me.
